The ZS Strings Student Series VLN 100 is a complete violin outfit created for beginning and developing musicians who need an instrument that is comfortable to play, dependable, and musically rewarding.

Unlike many basic beginner outfits, the VLN 100 is not intended to be a temporary first-year instrument. Its responsive sound, solid construction, quality components, and professional setup make it capable of carrying most students through middle school and high school—or until they develop into a more serious player ready for a higher-level instrument.

Each VLN 100 features a spruce top with maple back, ribs, and neck, finished with a warm, traditional appearance. Parisian-eye tuning pegs add an attractive detail, while a Wittner Ultra tailpiece with four integrated fine tuners makes accurate tuning easier for students, parents, and teachers.

Every violin is individually inspected and set up here in the ZS Strings workshop in Vancouver, Washington. The bridge, soundpost, nut, pegs, string height, and other playing characteristics are checked and adjusted to provide comfortable playability, stable tuning, and an easy, responsive sound. Each instrument is fitted with Pirastro Tonica strings or a comparable set selected by ZS Strings.

Because these instruments are purchased directly from their makers rather than passing through multiple layers of distribution, the VLN 100 offers exceptional value. More of the purchase price goes toward the violin itself, its professional setup, upgraded strings, and useful accessories.

Built to Support a Student’s Progress

The VLN 100 is an excellent choice for private lessons, school orchestra, youth orchestra, and continued musical development. For most students, it provides the sound, responsiveness, and playability needed to progress well beyond the earliest stages of learning and continue playing through high school.

When the player is ready to move into a more advanced instrument, the VLN 100 is eligible for 100% trade-in credit toward a qualifying upgrade, in accordance with the current ZS Strings Trade-In Policy.
