Strad Inspired 1716 “GP” Pattern
Vancouver, 2025
This 2025 Zachary Sears violin is built on a larger 1716 Stradivari-inspired “GP” pattern, designed for projection, depth, and tonal complexity. It features a beautifully figured two-piece maple back and premium European tonewoods throughout.
This instrument was built in Vancouver by Zachary Sears and finished in a hand-applied oil varnish over a luminous golden ground. The varnish has been antiqued with natural craquelure and texture, giving it visual depth and character reminiscent of old Cremonese work.
Tone & Playing Characteristics
This violin has:
Huge projection
Exceptional tonal depth
A singing upper register
Power and core in the lower strings
Strong clarity under the ear with even greater bloom at distance
It carries easily in a hall and responds immediately under the bow. The sound is rich and refined, yet muscular when pushed — ideal for solo and advanced orchestral work.
Set up with Warchal “Beast” strings, it delivers strong articulation and focused brilliance while maintaining warmth and body.
